Up to 30 cars have been destroyed by a grass fire burning near Sydney Olympic Park.
Fifty firefighters are battling to contain the fire near an aquatic centre in Homebush in Sydney's west, Fire and Rescue NSW Superintendent Ian Krimmer said on Sunday.
Around 500 people have been evacuated from the aquatic centre and no injuries have been reported.
Once the grass fire has been controlled, firefighters will try to extinguish a number of parked cars that are also on fire.
Between 20 and 30 cars have been destroyed by the fire, Mr Krimmer said."We currently have 12 fire trucks on the scene extinguishing car fires from the surrounding grass fire," Mr Krimmer said.
