Trainer Colin Webster hopes to get a better guide on a WA Oaks tilt with Pop Culture in tomorrow's Budget Rent A Car Challenge Stakes (1500m) at Ascot.

Pop Culture is undefeated from two starts this campaign, having won a maiden at Pinjarra and a 1200m race for three-year-olds at Ascot last month.

The Blackfriars filly has to overcome barrier 13 in a hot edition of the Challenge.

She is on the second line of bett-ing with Player at $7 along with Just Wicked and WA Guineas runner-up Caiguna. Rohan is the $5.50 favourite.

"I'd love to think she could get to the Oaks but we'll take it one run at a time," Webster said. "It makes it hard with the barrier and it's a crackerjack field.

"She's done really well since her last run and I think she'll run a really nice race.

"She's a beautiful filly and she's over the problems she had in the barriers last year."

Webster was busy picking out yearlings at yesterday's conclusion of the select session of the Magic Millions Perth yearling sale.

Mt Hallowell Stud's Craig Thompson paid $110,000 for an Oratorio-Klazig colt and Neville Parnham paid the same price for a Blackfriars-Crossed Wires colt from the family of last Saturday's MM Perth 2YO Classic winner Darlington Abbey.

Trainer Trevor Andrews bought a Husson Lighting colt which is a brother to David Hayes' impressive two-year-old Mrs Gray for $100,000.

· Jockey Glenn Smith copped a 21-day suspension for careless riding at Bunbury on Wednesday. The suspension starts after tomorrow's Ascot meeting.
