Occupy Wall St protestors get tested for STD, HIV: report
In what appears to be a whiff of a scandal, Occupy Wall Street protesters are understood to be flocking to nearby health clinics for sexually-transmitted disease (STD) and HIV testing, the New York Post has reported.
The protestors who reportedly “got their freak on” in hookups with strangers got referred by the organisers for STD testing.
A source told the New York Post that the volunteers at the medical tent handed out cash so the protestors could visit clinics "that cater to a low-income clientele".
"Last week was free love," a medical professional at a clinic said.
Experts said it is the right thing to do.
"My advice for the protesters would be to practice safer sex. It's a lot cheaper to buy a condom than get treated for an STD," Lisa Oldson, medical director of Chicago-based Analyte Health told the paper.
