Bushfire warning for Joondalup, Henley Brook

UPDATE: 5PM Two bushfires have been reported in Joondalup and Henley Brook.

The Joondalup fire, which was reported just before 12pm, broke out at Cockatoo Ridge.

The advice has been issued for people east of Grand Boulevard between Shenton Avenue and Kendrew Crescent.

The fire is under control but there is still a lot of smoke in the area due to moderate easterly winds causing flare ups.

The fire has burnt through approximately ten hectares. Fire crews, a type one helicopter and helitacs are on the scene.

Lakeside Drive between Boas Avenue and Shoveller Terrace is closed.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area, reduce speed and drive carefully due to smoke.

A bushfire advice has also been issued for people between Henley Street and Lawson Road including Georgeff Street, Park Street and Murray Road in the north-western part of Henley Brook.

There is no threat to lives or homes. Although there is no immediate danger you need to be aware and keep up to date.

The bushfire that was reported at 3.35pm today is under control.

Career and volunteer Fire and Rescue Service firefighters and Bushfire Service firefighters are on the scene.

Four hectares have been burnt.

Georgeff Street is closed between Henley Street and Park Street.
