Man charged over sex assault

Detectives have charged a man over a violent sex assault in Wembley where a woman was grabbed by the throat, dragged into bushes and assaulted.

The attack allegedly occurred about 10pm on August 24 when the 21-year-old victim was walking on Alexander Street near Ruislip Street.

A 26-year-old Wembley man has been charged with one count of Aggravated Sexual Penetration without Consent; one count of Attempted Aggravated Sexual Penetration without Consent and one count of Deprivation of Liberty.

He will appear in the Perth Magistrate's Court today.
