Bateman, Murdoch residents without power

FLIP PRIOR, The West Australian November 3, 2009, 4:09 pm

About 450 customers are still without power following two major outages in Bateman and Murdoch earlier today.

A Western Power spokeswoman confirmed that the first outage happened about 11.23am today and was restored about 12.15pm.

However, when a fault crew was fixing the problem, a second fault occurred.

The outage has affected 1220 business and residential customers in Bateman and Murdoch.

The spokeswoman said Western Power was working hard to restore supply and if power was out for more than 12 hours, customers would be eligible for compensation.

However, all power is expected to be restored to the majority of customers by 4.30pm with the remainder by 6pm.

Both faults were caused by high-voltage equipment failures.
