Golec joins Glory, Hersi departs

Perth Glory have announced the signing of Western Sydney centre-back Antony Golec on a two-year deal.

Golec helped Wanderers win the 2014 Asian Champions League and made 17 appearances this season after signing from Adelaide United.

He had previously played in the A-League with Sydney FC.

"I am very excited to be joining Perth Glory for the next two years,” Golec said.

"I am looking forward to playing good football under coach Kenny Lowe and his assistant Andy Ord. I have been able to get to know them well in recent years, so I'm looking forward to the move."

Lowe said Golec, who has played for Australia at U-20 and U-23 level, was a great acquisition for the club.

“He’s got a good pedigree, played for two top clubs in Australia, he’s versatile and has played in an Asian Champions League final, so that tells you what kind of player he is," Lowe said

Golec is due to arrive in Perth in time for the start of pre-season training in mid-June.

His arrival was announced the day after former Wanderers star Youssouf Hersi’s contract with Glory was terminated by mutual consent.

The Dutch winger, 32, revealed his departure yesterday via Instagram and the club confirmed his exit last night.

Hersi joined Glory a year ago after two sparkling seasons with Western Sydney but a hamstring injury cut his season short after eight A-League appearances.
