Brown to miss Kingston Town Classic

Winterbottom Stakes winning jockey Jason Brown will miss the Group 1 Tabtouch Kingston Town Classic after copping a careless riding suspension at Ascot.

Stewards charged Brown for allowing his mount, Magnifisio, to shift inwards when not fully clear of Watermans Bay approaching the 1000m.

He pleaded guilty and was suspended for 16 days and fined $1000.

It was his first careless riding suspension in 16 months, but stewards deliver harsher penalties in Group 1 races.

Stewards dismissed a protest from Watermans Bay's jockey, Steven Arnold, against Magnifisio because the interference was early in the race and it was on the low end of the scale.
