Perth people power inspires Irish tram rescue
Irish commuters seemingly inspired by those who pushed a train after a Perth man slipped between a carriage and the platform, have banded together to rescue a schoolgirl who was trapped underneath a tram yesterday.
Dozens of fellow passengers pushed the tram away from the girl after both her legs were trapped underneath it on her way to school yesterday morning.
In footage filmed by a passer-by, the girl is heard screaming in pain while passengers push the train on one side in scenes reminiscent of those seen when a Perth man got his leg stuck between the train and the platform at Stirling train station on August 6.

The Irish passengers can be heard shouting “push” before, after several attempts of rocking the tram, the girl is freed.
The Irish Mirror reports the girl had been stepping off the tram at the time but was weighed down by a bag full of school books which tripped her on to the track as the tram passed.
She was reportedly dragged for about 50 yards before the driver was able to stop the tram.
She was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
The Perth man, known only as Andy, later admitted he feared he could lose his leg after becoming stuck when he slipped as he boarded the crowded peak-hour train at Stirling.The idea to push the tram was suggested by station staff and passengers and resulted in dozens of passengers pushing the carriage to free the man, who then continued his journey seemingly uninjured.The rescue made headlines worldwide after Transperth posted CCTV footage of the rescue on Youtube.
