Foot traffic came to a standstill momentarily on King Street yesterday as curious onlookers stopped to get a glimpse of Melbourne-based reality TV bombshell Brynne Edelsten on the luxury fashion shopping strip.
And it was also the perfect place for Edelsten to have her first look at Perth this year, given her love of the finer things in life.
But her multimillionaire husband Geoffrey, 70, need not worry about his credit card too much, as Edelsten has an action-packed schedule for Telethon this weekend.
"I love all the shops, my manager is going to have to keep me away from there - I am here to work, not to shop," Edelsten joked to AAA Weekend.
Tonight the Oklahoma native will make a splash on the red carpet at the VIP black-tie Lexus Ball for Telethon at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre in a gown courtesy of North Perth-based designer Aurelio Costarella.
It is a more special occasion than her first appearance at last year's ball as she has lost more than 15kg in the last 12 months.
She reveals the weight loss came from when her marriage hit "rock bottom" after Geoffrey was involved in a cheating scandal.
"It started when my husband went to court over another woman, that he may or may not have had an affair with unfortunately, and when I am stressed I eat everything or I eat nothing," she says.
"At that time I was eating nothing, so I thought 'OK, I have lost some weight but I want to continue doing this the right way'. I started working out, watching what I eat and having those protein shakes in the morning."
The couple are now "building things up again" and are trying to have their first baby.
"We had to put it on hold while I did Celebrity Splash because obviously I can't be pregnant and dive," she says. "We have been trying really hard lately and, worst-case scenario, we will turn to modern technology if need be."
The vibrant and surprisingly down-to-earth blonde is just about to finish filming the second series of her Seven reality series My Bedazzled Life.
She says to expect more fun, rather than the drama that was happening in her marriage during the first season.
"It is going to be a lot different from last year, which focused a loton my marriage and stuff but this will focus a lot more on me discovering more about my new home country and having adventures overseas."
