Residents of a Fremantle street were told to stay in their homes after a car crash caused a gas leak last night.A 33-year-old Tuart Hill man has been charged over the crash.
Police allege the man was driving a Holden Commodore that collided with a wall and utilities box on Solomon Road about 7.10pm.
Police allegedly apprehended the man near the intersection of South Street and Fifth Avenue.
He was charged with having a blood alcohol level in excess of 0.08, failing to report damage to public property and possessing a smoking implement.
Residents were told to stay in their homes while the gas leak was fixed.
Police closed the road while Western Power workers fixed a broken power line.
St John Ambulance said no one was treated in relation to the crash.
The man is due to appear before Fremantle Magistrates court on October 22.
