A Mandurah man believes his positive attitude helped him scoop $810,818 in Saturday’s Lotto draw.
He said the key to winning is persistence with your own numbers and being optimistic.
He has been playing the same numbers for the last two years and was nicknamed Mr Positive by his family for his attitude towards the game.
"You never know when your numbers will come up. You just have to stick with it and be optimistic," he said.
He originally thought he had picked up about $14,000 and was over the moon. But yesterday he realised he had won nearly a million dollars and had not been able to sleep all night.
"I can say I’m almost a millionaire, that’s awesome.
“This has come at a really good time as I was wondering about my future. I’m now set up for life and can buy my first home which I had started saving hard for," he said.
A holiday to the US and an outdoor barbeques with all the bells and whistles were also on the young man’s spending list.
The winning ticket was purchased from newsXpress Silver Sands in Mandurah. It’s the fourth Division 1 Lotto ticket sold in the town this year, making it WA’s number one Lotto hot spot alongside Joondalup which has also sold four.
