Perth radio station 92.9 better be on the look out for fresh talent to help bring its breakfast show back from the ratings graveyard.
This morning, Paul Hogan announced he is also quitting 92.9, following his co-host Lisa Fernandez who announced she was leaving last week after four years at the Subiaco-based station.
“Paul's just announced he won't be continuing with the @929LisaPaulBaz either. Says he came to do a show with Lise and also wants to move on,” the 929LisaPaulBaz Twitter account wrote this morning.
"Very sad to hear my mate @realpaulhogan is leaving @929LisaPaulBaz. "We came here as a team"... You're a legend Hoges. RESPECT. xxx," Fernandez also Tweeted.
Hogan joined the program last year replacing Sam ‘Sam Mac’ McMillan who went back to the East Coast to pursue a TV career, and has currently secured work on Ten’s new breakfast show Wake Up as a roving reporter.
Fernandez and Hogan’s last remaining co-host, popular media personality Basil Zempilas, has said he will remain with the station next year, but it isn’t confirmed in what capacity.
The resignations come as no surprise given the 92.9 breakfast show produced its lowest ratings in four years two weeks ago, and currently sits seventh in the Perth market.
Rumours also swirl that polarising outspoken personality Fernandez did not have her contract renewed, with the station allowing her to announce she was leaving on their own terms instead. It is understood the Lisa, Paul and Baz show will continue to broadcast for the reminder of the ratings year, with a new breakfast show needed to be in place for the beginning of the 2014 ratings year in January.
