Austal says it has delivered its second Independence-variant Littoral Combat Ship, the Coronado LCS 4, to the US Navy.
The delivery, late last week, follows successful acceptance trials at the end of August.
"The LCS program is in full swing at Austal USA with four other ships under construction at this time," Austal said in a statement.
The Coronado is is the second of twelve 127m Independence-variant LCS-class ships Austal has been contracted to build for the US.
The final 10 of the 12 LCS ships were awarded to Austal as prime contractor subsequent to a $3.5 billion block buy in 2010.
Austal has also been contracted by the US Navy to build ten 103-metre Joint High Speed Vessels (JHSV) under a 10-ship, $1.6 billion contract.
Two of the ten have already been delivered.Austal shares were off 1.5 cents, or 1.9 per cent, to 77.5 cents at 8.50am.
