With her new single released on Friday, her first co-produced album due out next month and a new book on the way, Aussie music icon Tina Arena already has enough on her plate to keep her busy well in to next year.
But having recently accepted the challenge of being a contestant on Seven's Dancing with the Stars, the 45-year-old France-based singer has spent the past few weeks juggling her already hectic schedule with dance rehearsals 25 hours a week.
"There are definitely times I want to pull my hair out," Arena tells AAA Weekend matter-of-factly over the phone from Melbourne.
"It's an absolutely mental schedule, I think you've got to be mental to do it."
However, Arena says she pondered for some time before agreeing to be on the show.
"I gave it a very good long thought," she says. "And then I thought, well, there are an enormous number of musicians who participate in this show and, for me, the most attractive element of doing it is the physical challenge."
Speaking of her Dancing with the Stars partner Damian Whitewood - who was rumoured to have been romantically linked with former contestant Danielle Spencer, estranged wife of actor Russell Crowe - Arena has nothing but praise for the talented Perth-raised dancer.
"He's a beautiful man," she gushes. "I'm so blessed to be partnered with him."
While she's no stranger to performing in front of big crowds, the mother of one admits that the thought of hitting the ballroom floor on Tuesday is petrifying.
"It's pretty terrifying," she says. "I'm going to be probably hysterically nervous but I gotta get through it and I will get through it."
Arena adds that the only down side of being part of the dancing series is turning into a social recluse.
"It's more like a bloody full-time job when you add in everything else I'm doing," she laughs. "I just feel like I've got no bloody life."
Despite being so busy, Arena will head to Perth next month for WA's annual children's fundraiser, Telethon, held at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre from October 19-20.Dancing with the Stars returns on Tuesday at 7.30pm on Seven/GWN7.
