Former West Coast Eagles coach John Worsfold was never going to stay still for long.
Just weeks after walking away from the club he led to AFL premierships as a player and coach, Worsfold is now running towards another physically exhausting cause.
On behalf of the Little Heroes Foundation, which raises funds for seriously ill children, Worsfold is in training to run the New York Marathon on November 3.
Still a keen runner, Worsfold will be put to one of the ultimate long distance tests when he covers the 42km around New York's famous course in just over six weeks time.
"Now I have a bit more time, I am going to put it to good use. I'm running the New York marathon to raise funds for seriously ill children. Any help would be appreciated," Worsfold said.
Worsfold captained West Coast to two flags during his 209-game playing career, and also coached the club to the 2006 premiership.
But after an underwhelming season which started with Eagles as amongst the favourites for the flag, but which ended with them way out of finals contention, Worsfold walked away from the club.Sponsorship of the run be made at http://www.heroeshq.org/
