Dungeon made for eating children: US cops

US police have released photos of a dungeon where they believe a man planned to torture and eat children.

Officials have released photos showing cages and a small coffin in the basement of British-born Geoffrey Portway's Massachusetts home. The photos were reportedly taken when police raided his home in July 2012.

Police also found a table with rings attached which could have been used to secure restraints.

The Huffington Post reports prosecutors claim 40-year-old Portway regularly chatted online about raping, killing, cooking and eating children.

Transcripts from Portway's online conversations, obtained by news outlet, reportedly include graphic descriptions of his plans to rape, kill and eat children. He also describes, in detail, the dungeon in his basement.

"Really want to eat a nice young boy. Setting [up] my basement," Portway reportedly said in a chat in 2010.

He goes on to say that his "setup" as "[a] locked basement, has a cage, has a table to tie people to, working on sound proofing now."

Also in Portway's home, officers found two freezers, scalpels, butcher's knives and a tool used to castrate calves and lambs.

The New York Daily News reports Portway is expected to be sentenced to up to 27 years behind bars after pleading guilty to solicitation to commit a crime and child pornography charges in May.

Police confiscated 4500 pictures during their raid, many of which contained images of dead children or relating to cannibalism, as well as graphic films and books.

He is expected to be sentenced on Tuesday.
