Fire and Emergency Services have issued a bushfire advice warning for motorists travelling along Gibb River Road through the King Leopold Ranges Conservation Park in the Shire of Derby-West Kimberley.
The warning comes as a fire is burning in the remote country, about 200km east of Derby, with smoke visible from the road and a risk of it drifting over the road.
At this point, the fire has burnt through 5000ha and seen the closure of Mount Hart Road and the Lennard Gorge recreation site.
The Department of Parks and Wildlife has alerted neighbouring landowners to the fire, and while there is no immediate danger, encourage people to be aware and keep up to date.
People around the area should be careful while driving, including turning on headlights and travelling slowly, as well as keeping an eye out for emergency services personnel and follow their directions.
If it becomes a case where you cannot see clearly, motorists should pull over and turn hazard lights on until the smoke clears.Keep up to date by visiting www.dpaw.wa.gov.au , www.dfes.wa.gov.au , call 1300 657 209 or listen to news bulletins.
