Police have charged a Greenfields man over a serious assault on a 42-year-old in Dawesville last night.
It is alleged the 33-year-old was creating a disturbance on Bryde Court about 6.30pm when a resident asked him to leave the area.
A police spokeswoman said the 42-year-old was assaulted after he tried to help his neighbour.
“He was confronted by the alleged offender, who struck him on the head with a metal trowel,” she said.
“The man then [allegedly] chased the victim inside a neighbouring home where he armed himself with a kitchen knife and further assaulted the victim.”
The man has been charged with unlawful wounding and grievous bodily harm.
He is due to appear in Perth Magistrate’s Court today.The victim is being treated for serious injuries in Royal Perth Hospital.
