A 35-year-old man will face a trial into charges laid over the fatal crash in Byford which killed father-of-four Mark Noormets.
Rodney Allen Beard pleaded not guilty in the Supreme Court this morning to charges of manslaughter and with intent to harm, doing an act which resulted or was likely to endanger life, health or safety.
Mr Beard appeared on a video link from Casuarina prison and remains in a wheelchair after suffering injuries in the crash.
Mr Noormets, a 51-year-old customs officer and volunteer firefighter, was killed when his car was hit by a utility allegedly being driven by Mr Beard.
Police have alleged Mr Beard veered onto the wrong side of the South Western Highway on December 6.
Police have also claimed he was involved in a road rage incident with another driver before the crash.Mr Beard will appear in court for a status conference on October 17.
