Rumours are swirling that kaftan queen Camilla Franks will head up a stand-alone runway show for her eponymous label Camilla as part of the Perth Fashion Festival.
The eccentric designer, who was in Perth to front an official launch party on Wednesday night to celebrate the opening of her flagship WA store in Cottesloe, told AAA Weekend that she would meet PFF organisers during her brief visit.
“The discussions are starting,” she said. “So it could be possible. I’d love to be over here. Fingers crossed.”
Franks, who has an extensive celebrity client list that includes Oprah Winfrey, Beyonce and Miranda Kerr, said she was working with David Jones to expand her vibrant fashion line to include a lifestyle range.
“For me, ever since I started the label I wanted to be the best lifestyle brand in the world,” she said.
“So we’re creating Camilla World within David Jones over the coming months. So you’ll have the cushions, the rugs, the kidswear, the jewellery.”
Also on the fashion horizon for Franks is opening a string of stand-alone Camilla stores in the US, with her signature designs already stocked in upscale fashion retailers Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom.“We’re looking at opening up stores internationally — we’re looking at Miami and Dallas,” she said.
