A 30-year-old Geraldton man and a 67-year-old Scarborough man are in a serious but stable condition this afternoon after two cars collided head-on 20km north of Geraldton yesterday.
An off-duty police officer came across the crash scene on North West Coastal Highway about 8.30am.
Two utilities crashed and people were trapped in the wreckage.
Department of Fire and Emergency Services crews from Geraldton and Northampton were called to the scene and worked to free the vehicle's occupants.
Two regional ambulance crews were also sent to the scene.
Both men were flown to Royal Perth Hospital for treatment.
The road was reopened after police and emergency crews cleared the scene.
Police inquiries into the crash are continuing.
