Police are searching for a man who fled the scene of a crash at Butler yesterday afternoon.

A police spokesman said white sedan ploughed into a lamp post about 4pm on Connolly Drive.

The driver left the scene, leaving onlookers to provide help to the injured passenger.

A man, believed to be an off-duty police officer, gave chase, but lost him in a side street, a witness said.

The passenger was taken to Joondalup hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Anyone with information about the driver should call police on 131444.
