A 10-month-old baby survived being plunged from an eight-floor apartment by his suicidal mother by landing on her and bouncing off her body.
The New York Post reports that 10-month-old Keston and his mother Cindy Bacharach, 44, hit the footpath near their Harlem apartment in New York.
Ms Bacharach, a dedicated lawyer with the State Supreme Court, died instantly but Keston, who had been carried in the suicide leap bounced off his mother's chest and immediately began crying and crawling around.
Keston was rushed to Harlem Hospital in stable condition, and is expected to survive.
The Post quoted sources as saying Bacharach had left behind a seven-page suicide note assuming blame for Keston’s undisclosed medical troubles.
"Scrawled on both sides of seven pieces of composition book paper, the frenzied missive placed blame for Keston's phantom physical ailments on herself," the newspaper said.
"I'm evil," it read. "I love you so much and I'm evil for what I did."The note hinted at her suicide plans and referred to Keston having cerebral palsy despite his clean health.
