A State school teacher who posted naked pictures of himself on the internet will not face disciplinary action.
The Education Department said a northern suburbs high school principal reported last week that a teacher had posted the pictures of himself on a personal blog that was available publicly.
A parent had notified the principal.
The teacher shut the site containing the pictures immediately, but not before students discovered the images and shared them on Facebook.
The department said the principal counselled the teacher about the risks involved in publishing images on social media sites and that the teacher “extremely remorseful”.
It was satisfied no further action against the teacher was warranted.
Education Department director-general Sharyn O’Neill said she expected better judgment from teachers.“I am surprised that teachers haven’t yet got the message that their private and professional lives get connected directly through social media,” she said.
