Runway stars like to stay grounded

Catching up with your best mate is just as much fun as hanging out with Hollywood stars for top models Nicole Trunfio and Jessica Gomes.

The jetsetting WA pair live the high life in the US but reckon a good girlfriend catch-up helps them keep their feet on the ground.

New York-based Trunfio, 26, and Los Angeles resident Gomes, 27, met in Sydney this week and Trunfio posted this picture of the pair online.

"It is really cool because we have known each other before either of us had any career or any status at all," Trunfio said.

"Our friendship is good because it keeps both of us grounded and we know each other without all the glitz and glam."

Gomes was in Sydney to shoot high-profile fashion editorials and Trunfio was on her way to Melbourne to headline Kookai's autumn-winter 2013 launch. They often meet at exclusive events such as last month's Vanity Fair Oscars party.

"We really know each other and we know each other's families," Trunfio said. "It is really awesome to have someone who knows who I really am."
