Woman charged with robbing 88-year-old

An elderly man on a gopher scooter was allegedly robbed and hit by a woman in Rivervale on Saturday afternoon.

Police allege the 88-year-old man was at a bus stop at Kooyong Road, near Gerring Court, at 3.30pm when he was approached by a woman who asked him for money and when he declined she reached into his pocket and stole $15.

"The victim held on to the woman to prevent her escape, however she hit him on the arm and walked away," a police spokesman said.

"Police located a 25-year-ol Leederville woman nearby and she has been charged with aggravated robbery."
