A man was pushed out of his $52,500 HSV and had it stolen during a test drive in Ellenbrook yesterday.
The owner, an Ellenbrook who asked to be identified as Clayton, was taking a man for a test drive in his black HSV Clubsport at about 3.20pm yesterday when he was carjacked.
His Clubsport, registration SAF 1, was in pristine condition with about $12,000 worth of upgrades and 443 rear-wheel horsepower.
A Holden fan and car enthusiast, Clayton decided to sell the car after having a second child.
“You probably wouldn’t find anyone more particular about their car,” he said.
“But I just had a second baby so I needed to a bit more of a family friendly car.”
He first became suspicious when the man called him about the HSV, which was advertised through Gumtree, Car Sales and Autotrader.
“During the first phone call he sounded a bit over-eager, that’s why I made sure I had my next door neighbour with me at the time,” he said.
Unfortunately, his instincts were proven right during the test drive, when the man pushed Clayton out of the car onto his Clio Lane driveway.
“We went for the test drive and he was getting a bit edgy,” he said.“We pulled into my driveway and I waited for him to exit my car because he had the keys.
“Once he was out of the car I went to get out, but when I was about halfway out he jumped back in and pushed me.
“Then he locked the doors, backed out of my driveway and floored it.”
Clayton described the man as Caucasian, between 25 and 30 years old and potentially high on amphetamines.
“He’s on something I would suggest - some sort of amphetamine judging by the way he was acting,” he said.
“I’m not sure if he’s just going to dump it or use it for burglaries. It’s a fast car.”Anyone with information on the incident or the location of the Club Sport is urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
