Victoria Cross recipient Ben Roberts-Smith will join his family to launch a unique promotion aimed at getting younger veterans involved with Anzac Day activities.

The WA soldier will appear soon in newspaper and TV advertisements with his wife Emma and twin daughters Elizabeth and Eve to urge veterans of more recent conflicts to take part in remembrance marches and ceremonies.

The campaign will also encourage Australians to visit the Australian War Memorial in Canberra, which has flagged building new exhibits dedicated to the Iraq and Afghan conflicts.

Most Anzac Day campaigns have focused on remembering the actions of Australians in World War I, World War II and Vietnam.

But with the veterans of those wars dying out, the War Memorial wants to remind Australians that the spirit of Anzac lives on in a new generation of Diggers.
