A 20-year-old Geraldton man has returned home with a swollen face after he was allegedly punched before being robbed near Crown Casino yesterday.
About 3am, Daniel, 20, and his 25-year-old friend were walking along Glenn Place towards the Burswood casino's taxi rank when they were approached by three men.
Daniel said he and his friend were threatened before he was punched in the face.
His friend allegedly had a bottle held up against his throat as the attack unfolded.
"I didn't really want to believe it was going to happen, I just thought they were going on their own way, (I) try and avoid that sort of stuff," Daniel said.
After grabbing his wallet and phone, the trio fled.
Daniel was taken to Royal Perth Hospital for treatment but was discharged later than morning.
The 20-year-old said he felt very lucky that his injuries were not more serious.
He said he was pleased that police were able to return his personal belongings to him before embarked on his trip back home to Geraldton last night.
Det-Const. Chris Poore said it was unfortunate the two men had to endure such an attack while on holiday in Perth but he believed the robbery was opportunistic in nature.
Police have charged a 27-year-old East Victoria Park man with aggravated armed robbery but are still looking for a second dark skinned man who was wearing a blue shirt at the time of the assault.Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
