300kg truck gear box stolen in Pilbara

Liam Croy, The West Australian March 6, 2013, 7:07 am

Police are searching for thieves who stole a truck gear box and turbo charger from a Pilbara truck yard last weekend.

Sometime over the long weekend, the offenders forced open a sea container that was sitting in the Cajurina Way yard in the Wedgefield industrial area at South Hedland.

A police spokeswoman said it was likely they used a fork lift to complete the robbery, as the gearbox alone weighed more than 300kg.

The parts were worth more than $17,000.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
