A police booze bus that caused traffic chaos on Mounts Bay Road on Monday failed to catch a single driver affected by alcohol or drugs.

Officers conducted 516 random breath tests and 53 drug tests but police said yesterday that no one was charged with drink driving or drug offences.

Some minor traffic infringements were issued.

The random breath testing began about 7.30am in Nedlands near the Elizabeth Quay roadworks and caused traffic to stretch back to the Narrows Bridge despite the Labour Day public holiday.

Police claim traffic started to build about 9.30am and the booze bus was shut down at 10.30am.
