Perth has proved to be fertile ground for "Champagne Dame" Kyla Kirkpatrick, who has spent a week in the city teaching the rituals and history of the famous bubbly drink.
"There is an excitement and an energy happening here . . . there's definitely some momentum and some style," Ms Kirkpatrick said.
"Perth is not the wild, wild west any more, it's got some glamour, it's growing up."
The Champagne Dame travels around Australia sharing her expertise to educate and stimulate the senses of those keen to indulge in a champagne masterclass.
Ms Kirkpatrick established her business after spending months in the Champagne region of France learning the traditional production methods and history while immersing herself in the local lifestyle.
She travels to Champagne several times a year and hosts "insiders tours" of the region.
"It's a very expensive mistake to make if you don't buy the right bottle or you don't buy something you like," she said.
"In my class we try to educate people on which champagnes they like and which champagnes they might not like."Sponsored links
