Police have charged two men after a car was set alight in the car park of a Lancelin pub at the weekend.

It is alleged the men, both from Lancelin, set the vehicle on fire in the carpark of the Endeavour Tavern on Gingin Road about 10.45pm on Saturday.

A police spokesman said an assessment of the vehicle suggested it had been broken into and that property was stolen from it before it was set on fire.

About 4pm yesterday afternoon, officers from Lancelin and Gingin executed a search warrant on a property in Lancelin and arrested two people.

A 28-year-old man has been charged with criminal damage by fire and stealing, while a 26-year-old man has been charged with accessory after the fact, stealing, possessing a prohibited drug, no authority to drive and three counts of possessing a smoking utensil.

Both men are due to appear in the East Perth Magistrate’s Court today.
