Update: Two people involved in a large fight between two groups of people are in hospital after they were struck by a car being driven by a man also involved in the altercation in Cockburn overnight.
A 25-year-old Atwell man will face a string of charges in court today after he allegedly mowed down the man and woman on North Lake Road just after midnight.
Police allege several people involved in an altercation earlier in the night with another group of people outside a pub were travelling north along North Lake Road in a vehicle when they saw people involved in the earlier fight walking along the road.
The driver allegedly pulled over and four people got out of the car and another fight broke out.
Police allege the accused got back in the vehicle and drove over a median strip towards the group, striking two of them one after the other.
A 28-year-old woman is in Fremantle Hospital suffering a suspected broken shoulder and with extensive bruising and abrasions to her body while a 24-year-old man suffered a dislocated shoulder and numerous abrasions to his body and is recovering in Royal Perth Hospital.The alleged driver has been charged with two counts of act or omission causing bodily harm, and one count each of excess 0.08 and no authority to drive. He is due to appear in Perth Magistrates Court on March 4.
