Metal bar used in bash-and-grab: police

A 19-year-old Middle Swan man has been charged overnight after he allegedly robbed a man and a woman in Subiaco last year.

The victims were standing near the intersection of Churchill Avenue and Rokeby Road about 3am on June 9 when a white Ford stopped near them.

Police allege a man got out of the passenger seat of the car and hit the male victim with a metal bar.

The offender grabbed the woman's handbag and got back into the car.

The male victim chased after his attacker, got into the passenger seat of the car and wrestled with the passenger.

He was further assaulted before the car stopped and the victim was let out

The 19-year-old man has been charged with aggravated armed robbery and is due to appear in Perth Magistrate's Court today.

Police inquires into the other people in the car are continuing.
