A 39-year-old man has been charged with grievous body harm after he allegedly stabbed a stranger on a train last night.
A police spokeswoman said the victim, a 27-year-old man, was travelling on a Perth-bound train from Midland about 7.45pm when he became involved in an altercation with the offender.
She said the victim was stabbed in the lower stomach and managed to get off the train at McIver train station before collapsing.
He was taken to Royal Perth Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery for life-threatening injuries.
The victim is in a stable condition in hospital.
The 39-year-old man, of no fixed address, was arrested at Perth Underground Station.He is due to appear in Perth Magistrate's Court today.
