WA unions have denied they contemplated pulling support from sitting Labor Senator Louise Pratt.

_The West Australian _reported yesterday that a handful of powerful left-wing unions were considering abandoning Senator Pratt in revenge for one of their members being overlooked as a candidate for the State seat of Fremantle.

But in a joint statement, the Australian Manufacturing Workers Union, the Construction, Forestry, Mining and Energy Union and the Maritime Union of Australia all said they continued to back Senator Pratt to hold the coveted No.1 position on the WA Labor Senate ticket.

"For the No.1 position on the WA Labor Senate ticket at the upcoming Federal election, we are united in supporting the incumbent Senator, Louise Pratt," they said.

"Senator Pratt has made significant contributions to the lives of blue collar workers and their families."
