Morley police are investigating a number of incidents in which vehicle owners are being asked for cash after notes have been left on their cars.
In similar incidents at the Centro Dianella and Morley Galleria shopping centres, vehicle owners returned to their parked cars to find a note on the windscreen.
The note suggests that the vehicle driver has hit their car, and gives a telephone number for them to contact the aggrieved party.
On each occasion, the victims did not see any damage to their vehicle. When ringing the number, the man that answered demanded money from them.
Police believe this is a scam and their advice is not to call the number on the note. If the note is legitimate an insurance company will eventually contact them after the vehicle owner’s details have been legitimately obtained.Anyone who receives a similar note on their vehicle is asked to report it to Morley Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
