Northbridge is set to come alive with colour and activity as Perth’s Chinese community celebrate the year of the snake.
The Chinese New Year Fair in Northbridge will kick off tomorrow to mark the first day of the lunar new year.
James Street will be turned into a festival ground with food and market stalls, lion and dragon dance performances and cultural activities throughout the day.
Meanwhile, Lake Street will be transformed into a fun zone of water themed rides and games.
The Northbridge Piazza will also host a multicultural concert at night.
Perth Lord Mayor Lisa Scaffidi said the Piazza SuperScreen will depict the different ways Chinese New Year is celebrated in Perth and around the world.
“Along with the film season, the screen will feature interviews from local Chinese businesses as they prepare for the celebrations,” she said.“The City of Perth will also broadcast TVB coverage, bringing the New Year celebrations in both Hong Kong and China to the Piazza.”
