Machine gun in haul: police

A 28-year-old man has been charged after police allegedly uncovered illegal drugs, a machine gun and ammunition at his Craigie home.

Police said officers executed a search warrant at the man’s home in Arawa Place yesterday afternoon and immediately found a small machine gun with a loaded magazine and a replica handgun in the main bedroom.

Officers allegedly also found methylamphetamine, cannabis, smoking utensils and ammunition at the house.

The man has been charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm, two counts of possession of unlicensed ammunition, failure to ensure safe keeping, possession of methylamphetamine, possession of cannabis and two counts of possession of a smoking utensil.

He is due to appear in Joondalup Magistrate’s Court on February 13.
