Crazy troupe promises circus fun

A big top on a roof seven storeys up will be buzzing with activity at the first Kids Comedy Gala today as part of Fringe World.

Margaret River's Lunar Circus has pitched its tent at the Rooftop Movies above the Roe Street carpark in Northbridge.

Lunar Circus artistic director "Fatt Matt" Yates said the troupe was performing in Perth for the first time in a decade after touring the world. "We all go off on tour but return each year for our circus festival in Margaret River," Yates said.

The Kids Comedy Gala is one of four Lunar Circus fringe shows featuring local and international comedians, unicyclists, acrobats, trapeze artists and Austria's Mr Strudle's Matchbox Big Band.

Yates said the show was a great way to give children a fringe experience that reflected the rough and tumble of circus life.

Other weekend Fringe World highlights include Mechronos, the Wau Wau Sisters and This is What We do For a Living.
