Fremantle have suffered another pre-season injury blow with senior midfielder David Mundy limping from the training track this morning.
Mundy appeared to twist his right ankle and left Fremantle Oval midway through a ball drills session. He did not return for the second half of the exercises.
On first assessment, the injury does not appear related to the serious ankle problem that ruined his 2011 season and de-railed his preparations for the 2012 campaign.
The complaint was diagnosed as syndesmosis - the popping of the ligament at the front of the ankle and the separation of the two main lower leg bones.
Mundy suffered the injury in round 12 of 2011 against Essendon, and aggravated it trying to return in round 22 against North Melbourne.
Fremantle have endured a tough pre-season run. Another midfielder Anthony Morabito ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament earlier this month. He has undergone the LARS operation in a bid to return to the AFL this season. And Matthew Pavlich had his 2013 preparations delayed by back surgery last month.
