Fremantle ruckman Aaron Sandilands has undergone minor surgery but the Dockers are confident the procedure won't affect his pre-season campaign.
Sandilands missed training today after having an operation to correct a vascular problem yesterday.
It is believed Sandilands will be ready to resume training on Monday.
The Dockers are already working overtime to have captain Matthew Pavlich ready for round one after he had surgery on his back in late November.
Meanwhile, Fremantle star Nat Fyfe says he is close to full training after completing most of a gruelling two hour session at Fremantle Oval this morning.
Fyfe, given some time off over summer to make sure his body was coping with his increased size and weight, expects to be joining in full training next week and be ready for Fremantle’s NAB Cup matches.
“I made a pretty good progression today and did most of the session today. Next week I would look to take part in most of the sessions,” he said.
Fyfe confirmed he has added another 4kg to his frame over summer and is likely to play at around 89kg this year. He started last year’s season at about 85kg but said he was coping well with the extra weight so far.
He played down suggestions that the Dockers were having an extra hard pre-season program after two tough sessions this week.
“It is pretty hot and it has been pretty solid so far, just around the corner from a few games starting,” he said.
“January is typically pretty solid, It is the last block of the pre-season before the games start happening so we get a lot of volume in in this period.”
“All pre-seasons are tough and each year one club is going to go a little bit harder than another. Each year clubs are trying to improve on the rest of the competition and this year is no different.”
Fyfe expects to play several of Fremantle’s pre-season games in the lead into round one.“They haven’t outline to specific players how much each player is going to play. I know that I will look to play a few games at least but I am not sure exactly how much,” he said.
