A 17-year-old girl was attacked by a gang as she walked home from work in Swan View in broad daylight yesterday evening.

The teenager had left a bus and was walking home along Myles Road, towards Blackadder Road, when she was approached by five men and women about 6.45pm.

A police spokeswoman said members of the group punched the girl and kicked her repeatedly.

They stole her purse and fled.

The girl was taken to Swan District Hospital.

She was not seriously injured.

The offenders were aged between 17 and 25 and were all dark skinned.

Police are calling for witnesses to the incident.

It is believed several cars drove past at the time of the attack.
