AAP, The West Australian January 11, 2013, 7:45 pm

Two men who allegedly started a fire in Sydney’s west on Friday have been charged by police.

Police said the two men lit a fire of leaves and sticks at Whalan Reserve at Tregear about 6am this morning.

One of the men allegedly threw an aerosol can into the fire which exploded, before both men fled the area in a Holden Commodore.

The men, aged 22 and 20, were located later on Friday by police and charged with causing or setting a fire to property and failing to comply with a total fire ban.

They were both granted bail and are due to appear in Penrith Local Court on January 30.
