Man beaten at sports club, cops allege

A man was allegedly been beaten with baseball bats and abused at a northern suburbs sports club.

Police allege that about 8.30pm on December 30, an altercation took place between two groups of men at a sporting club in Balga.

This morning West Metropolitan Detectives charged a 22-year-old Joondanna man with threatening to kill in circumstances of racial Aggravation and acts or omissions causing bodily harm. A 19-year-old Balga was charged with acts or omissions causing bodily harm.

Police are continuing to investigate anti-social behaviour in the area after the incident which saw the 21-year-old assaulted and hospitalised.

Yesterday Mirrabooka detectives and officers from Scarborough and Mirrabooka police stations searched homes Joondanna and Balga.

Both men will appear in the Perth Magistrate’s Court on January 21.
