Young pilots will swap the sky for the ocean next month when they take part in the HBF Rottnest Channel Swim.
Skywest pilots Simon Hams and James Anderson will join Naomi Bezu and Anna Steffensen from the company's human resources department in the annual 19.7km swim. The team has been training since October.
"It is quite tough because the pilots are on shifts but we try and do a team swim once a week and then we do our own individual training," Ms Bezu said. The Skywest team will be raising money for the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
Rottnest Channel Swim Association president David Corney said using the event to raise money for a good cause was a growing trend.
"People see it as a new way of raising money for their favourite charity, and good on them," Mr Corney said.
The event is in its 23rd year.More than 2300 competitors willswim from Cottesloe beach to Thomson Bay on Rottnest on February 23.
