A man was killed this morning after his car crashed into a tree in Yokine.

It is understood his vehicle rolled and struck the tree in Lockwood Street after hitting another car in Flinders Street near the intersection of Raymond street about 5.05am.

A police spokesman said Flinders Street was closed to traffic between Lockwood and Raymond streets. Motorists are being diverted from Flinders Street along Tuart and Golf View streets.

Motorists should avoid the area.

Emergency service workers remain at the scene.
