Update, 6.15pm: An armed man is dead after a siege in Willetton this afternoon.

Officers from the Tactical Response Group stormed the home of the man, who was armed with a gun at the corner of Albatross Pass and Woodpecker Avenue at about 6pm.

Police have since confirmed the man is deceased and the area is now safe.

The area was locked down after officers moved in on the home at 4pm.

A bailiff is understood to have contacted police after visiting the house for a repossession when the man fired a single gunshot into the air.

The bailiff fled the scene and the man retreated into the house.

Police this afternoon asked residents to remain in their homes. There is no longer a threat to the public.
